Poker Table Etiquette: Sit-Out Rules, Seat Blocking, and Fair Play
How should I behave at online poker tables?
Good etiquette ensures a fun, fair, and respectful experience for everyone. Below are some important guidelines to follow when sitting at online poker tables:
1. Avoid Sitting Out for Extended Periods
Sitting out temporarily is understandable if you need a short break, but extended absences can disrupt the flow of the game for other players:
- In cash games, the system may automatically remove you from the table after prolonged inactivity to free up your seat for others.
- In tournaments, your blinds and antes will still be posted while you are sitting out, which could affect your chip stack and the overall flow of the game.
2. Don’t Block Seats
It’s considered poor etiquette to join a table and sit out without playing, especially at high-demand tables. This practice, known as "seat blocking", prevents others from enjoying the game:
- If you’re not ready to play immediately, please wait until you are before taking a seat.
- Repeatedly blocking seats may lead to penalties, including being removed from the table or facing account restrictions.
3. Be Respectful and Play Fair
Poker is a social and competitive game. Please treat other players with respect and avoid actions that disrupt the game or create an unfair experience:
- Constant misbehavior, including abusive language, collusion, or disruptive gameplay, will not be tolerated.
- We take all player complaints seriously, and players who continuously misbehave may face account bans or other penalties.
