This week, Erik Seidel proved to the poker community that reaching for the moon and having big dreams can pay off – big time. After years of playing poker professionally, the player known as Seiborg won his 10th World Series of Poker bracelet.

Erik Seidel's Rise to Fame
Born in New York City in 1959, Seidel took a detour on his way to developing a poker career. In his youth, he played professional backgammon, moving on to becoming a trader on the American stock exchange market, and only then choosing to play poker professionally.
Seidel's first documented poker event was the 1988 World Series of Poker Main Event, where he managed to win second place against Johnny Chan, winning his first six-figure cash prize. Over the years, the American poker pro participated in dozens of WSOP events, playing different poker variations like Hold'em, Omaha, and Deuce to Seven Draw.
He won his first WSOP in 1992, which seemed to have triggered a winning streak, as he won two additional bracelets in 1993 and 1994. Over the course of a decade, Seiborg won 8 bracelets, and then it seemed as if his luck changed. Seidel kept winning poker matches and making a profit, but it took him 14 years to win his 9th bracelet in 2021, followed by his latest achievement – the 10th bracelet he won at the $50,000 Super High Roller WSOP event.
Overall, his total live earnings sum up to $45,454,328, landing him in 7th place on the Hendon Mob All-Time Money List. Throughout his career, he had 151 WSOP money finishes, one World Poker Tour title, and one European Poker Tour title.
Seidel's 10th Bracelet Win
At the age of 64, the legendary poker player joined the Super High Roller WSOP event alongside 136 other players, creating a prize pool of $6.85 million. He left the table with $1,704,400 under his belt, but the bracelet he won was even more impressive.
Seidel is the 5th poker player in the history of the World Series of Poker to win 10 bracelets or more. Phil Hellmuth is still the most decorated WSOP player with 17 bracelets, followed by Doyle Brunson, Johnny Chan, Phil Ivey, and now Erik Seidel who all have 10 WSOP bracelets.
Unsurprisingly, all those highly esteemed players were also inducted into the Poker Hall of Fame for their achievements.
“It really is nice to get to double digits,” Seidel said in an interview. “Any time you win a bracelet is just an incredibly special thing. To get to ten, I don’t know, it’s a beautiful feeling...”
